Randy S. Watson, CPA, Partner

Accounting for Consultants

Randy has over 48 years in public accounting. He was Managing Partner of the Firm from 1977-2017. He has performed over 600 peer reviews of other CPA firms auditing and accounting practices.

He has accounting and consulting experience in wholesale distribution, retail, real estate, manufacturing, engineering, non-profits, employee benefit plans, auto dealerships, construction, franchising and computer hardware and software companies. He consults on tax planning, business acquisitions, valuations, litigation support and financial planning.

He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from the University of Denver, graduating cum laude in 1972.

Randy is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in the state of Colorado. He is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (COCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). He has been a member of the Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS) and Executive Committees and has served on the AICPA Employee Benefits Plan Audit Quality Center Executive Committee for the AICPA. He served on the AICPA Peer Review Committee for two terms and currently serves on two task forces for the AICPA. He has served on the Colorado Society of CPA’s Peer Review Board since inception.


Troy Coon, CPA, Partner

Troy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Eastern Kentucky University, Richmond, Kentucky. He has over 20 years of public audit and tax experience.

His areas of expertise encompass a wide range of small closely held business, not-for-profit and governmental entities, including utility districts, fire districts, metropolitan districts, wholesale distributors, retailers, service companies, auto dealerships, construction contractors, employee benefit plans and oil and gas companies. Additionally, Troy has significant experience related to investment management and internal controls.

Troy holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate from the State of Colorado and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA), and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analyst (NACVA). He is also a certified peer reviewer and has been performing peer reviews since 2004.


Kelly Watson, CPA, Partner

Kelly received her BSBA from the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She has over 13 years of public audit and audit experience, including 2 years of experience at a large regional firm specializing in public company audits. Her areas of expertise encompass a wide range of industries, including not-for-profits, governmental, ERISA plans, as well as a variety of for-profit industries. Additionally, Kelly has significant experience in tax preparation services including IRS form 990. Kelly has gained specific expertise in the areas of accounting internal controls and Sarbanes Oxley compliance.

Kelly is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants, and a past recipient of the Colorado Society ‘CPA’s who Care’ award due to her extensive work with local not-for-profits. Kelly is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA) and holds Advanced Certificates from the AICPA in defined contribution plan audits and single audits. Kelly currently serves on the board of a local not-for-profit working with volunteer opportunities for children. Kelly loves to travel and spends most of her time outside of work adventuring with her family.


Jeremy Ryan, CPA, Partner

Jeremy is the managing partner and one of the partners in charge of Financial Reporting Services for Watson Coon Ryan, LLC. He has worked in public accounting for over 25 years. Jeremy earned his accounting degree from Colorado State University - Fort Collins in 1992 and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs and the Colorado Society of CPAs. He participates in the peer reviews and training of other CPA firms around the country. Jeremy is past Chair of the Peer Review Committee of the Colorado Society of CPAs and continues to serve on the committee. Jeremy is actively involved in the community as a board member of the Dakota Ridge Instrumental Music Boosters.

Jeremy has been directly involved in the planning, assessment, execution and communication phases of our firm's financial reporting practice with clients covering a wide range of industries including: not-for-profit organizations, benefit plans, manufacturing, wholesale and construction.


Katherine N. Douglas, CPA, Tax Manager

Katherine has been a licensed CPA in the state of Colorado since 2008. After graduating from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, she briefly explored the state of Georgia before realizing that there is no better place to live than Colorado. Katherine has over 15 years of tax accounting experience both in public accounting and the private sector. Her main areas of focus include high net worth individuals, complex family groups, real estate, oil & gas, and not-for-profits.

As a Colorado native she enjoys spending time outdoors with her golden retriever either exploring in the mountains or gardening in her back yard.


Amie Toyama, CPA, Tax Manager

Amie has worked in public accounting for over 13 years with experience in both tax and audit. Her areas of tax expertise encompass a wide range of industries, including construction, real estate, as well as a variety of other for-profit industries.

She works with businesses, individuals, and trusts providing a variety of tax services including tax planning, preparation and review, assistance with foreign tax issues, IRS correspondence, and reporting on business acquisitions and sales. Amie’s experience has varied from performing predominately audit and attest work including tax preparation in her earlier years, to doing primarily tax preparation and review work in her most recent 6 years. After spending over a decade with the same team performing both audit and tax work, Amie is well rounded in both tax and financial reporting.

Amie earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Central Oklahoma and holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate from the State of Colorado. She is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).


Zachary Yeoman, CPA, Audit Manager

Zachary received his Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. He has over 8 years of audit experience, including five years of experience at a large regional firm specializing in, not-for-profit organizations. His areas of expertise encompass a wide range of non-profit and single audit organizations. Additionally, Zachary also is involved in audits of state and local governments, including special districts.

Zachary holds a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate from the State of Colorado and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants (CSCPA). He is also a member of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver’s Board of Trustees. Past community involvement include serving as the Board Chair of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver’s Advisory Board, and the Treasurer of the Colorado Interfaith Alliance. In Zachary’s downtime, he enjoys hiking, backpacking, photography, cycling and small woodworking projects.


Karl Flower, CPA, Partner

Karl received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Rowan University, Glassboro, New Jersey and has been in public accounting since 2006. His experience includes financial statement audits of both privately held and publicly traded companies, as well as personal and corporate tax preparation services. His areas of expertise include manufacturing, construction, not-for-profits and ERISA plans.

Karl is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and holds an Advanced Certificate from the AICPA in Not-for-Profits.

Karl spends most of his free time enjoying the outdoors.
